Your privacy.

A small public website, an open atlas and a direct contact address.

Who is responsible

Krzysztof Koper is the individual operator and data controller for LeaveTheKidsAlone, an independent, unincorporated research and anti-war initiative based in Scotland, United Kingdom. It is not a registered company or charity.

For questions, corrections or privacy requests, email krzysztof.koper91@gmail.com.

Using the website and atlas

The website has no user accounts, submission forms, donations, advertising or application analytics. We do not ask for your location, camera or microphone. The public atlas is separate from unpublished research and private source files.

Cloudflare hosts and protects the site. Delivering pages involves network information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time. We do not enable an additional application request-log service.

Opening the atlas loads map styles, tiles, labels and icons directly from OpenFreeMap, operated by Hyperknot Software Kft. Your browser sends it your IP address, requested map resources and technical request information. We do not embed Google Maps or Gmail in the website.

Cookies and browser storage

Our application does not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies or store visitor profiles. Browsers may cache files to load the site and map efficiently. Cloudflare security features may use necessary security cookies; this is separate from marketing or analytics.

When you contact the project

Emailing us shares your address, any name you provide, your message and attachments. We use these to respond, assess corrections, protect the service and handle privacy requests. Email is voluntary; you can explore the site without contacting us. Gmail provides the mailbox. Correspondence is not automatically published or sent to an AI research workflow by this website.

Please do not send confidential witness material or sensitive personal details, especially about children or survivors. Ask about a suitable channel first.

Purpose and legal basis

We rely on legitimate interests in providing the website and requested map, keeping the service secure, responding to correspondence and maintaining an accurate public record. We limit information to what those purposes need. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests.

How long information is kept

Ordinary enquiries are kept for up to 12 months after correspondence ends; publication correction requests for up to 24 months after the case closes. A specific legal obligation or ongoing dispute may justify longer retention. Public correction history may be kept indefinitely with unnecessary personal details removed. Deletion or anonymisation is reviewed manually; provider-held copies follow the provider's own rules.

Providers and international processing

Cloudflare, OpenFreeMap and Google process information to deliver their services. This can involve processing outside the UK, including in the United States. Their privacy information explains their roles, retention and applicable safeguards. Cloudflare's data-processing terms describe its UK transfer arrangements; Google's framework information describes its safeguards where applicable. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your data.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information, and object to processing. These rights are not absolute. Write to the contact address above; we will respond without undue delay, normally within one month. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

The public website does not make automated decisions about people or carry out behavioural profiling. We will update this notice if our purposes or services change.
